Synners hosted Newcastle University at Stokesley Sports Club and lost out to the visitors in a 4-0 reverse.

Early chances for University saw Tolunani Osiyemi gifted the ball from Synthonia keeper James Young with the striker shooting straight back at the keeper. Then a corner from the left was met by a close range shot over the bar.

Billingham advanced and had strong penalty appeals denied when Lewis Porritt was challenged just inside the penalty area; Alex Bruton shooting over at the end of the attack.

Newcastle opened the scoring in the 11th minute when BEN MILLER put Young under pressure following a back pass and managed to prod home from the left of goal.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 24th minute, but Synners will feel agrieved when a handball was missed by the Referee as they pressed. However, Newcastle advanced after the incident and Cameron Wilson's back pass was latched onto by BEN HOLLAND who saw the ball past substitute keeper Ollie Simpson.

A third for University came in the 35th minute as they advanced on the left and a ball into the box came to DOMINIC GRIFFIN who netted from close range.

Billingham had chances after the break to get themselves back into the game as firstly Porritt shot wide following a left wing corner. Then another strong penalty appeal was waved away when Ryu Williamson released Bruton who was challenged in the box; Referee Mr Studholme indicating the defender had won the ball and giving a corner.

Further chances saw Stevie Johnson heading wide at the back post from the left sided corner kick and a Callum Banki shot which was pushed wide from University keeper Max Richardson.

A cross from the right from the visitors saw a header on goal which was tipped over by Simpson. They then advanced again from the right and following a strong run the ball was played into Osiyemi who shot wide at the near post.

Newcastle University added a fourth deep into added-on time when in the 95th minute JOEL BURGESS muscled through on goal and slotted the ball home past Simpson.
