Last seasons finalists met again in this year's 2nd Round with West Auckland again coming out on top.

West Auckland pressed from the off and a couple of early shots on goal saw Billingham keeper Jaan Yaqub down to save.

A corner from the right for West after a quarter of an hour saw a header on goal which brought a great save out of Yaqub on the goal-line to keep the game goal-less.

The visitors continued to have the upper hand and Yaqub was again called into making a great save as he pushed the ball over from Kyle Fyatt's shot on goal.

Billingham seemed to have rode out the early onslaught on their goal and forced a corner which Max Craggs sent in from the right for Connor Johnson who headed over the bar, but that was Synners' only chance in a pretty one-sided first half.

The second period continued to see West put pressure on the Billingham goal with the home defence standing resolute to keep them out. They squandered a good chance though in the 52nd minute as the ball was played into the middle from the left which was shot just wide with only Yaqub to beat.

West Auckland eventually found the net with the opener in the 58th minute as JORDAN BLINCO from the edge of the penalty area saw his shot beyond Yaqub and in.

The lead was doubled after 67 minutes with Blinco turning provider as he played the ball into the near post from the right for CIERAN JACKSON to shoot home from close range.

Synthonia looked to get back into the game and a Craggs free-kick was blocked by keeper Sam Guthrie, a follow up shot from Johnson struck the left upright; the ball coming to Luke Drummond who saw his shot also hit the post.

West Auckland wrapped the game up to deservedly progress to the next round with a third in the 88th minute. Yaqub miss-judged a simple ball out of defence to gift possession to JORDAN BLINCO who rounded the keeper and slotted home.
