Synthonia travelled to Tynseide for this Thursday night fixture and came home with the three points.

An early free-kick for Synners saw Max Craggs send the ball into the box for Ben Henderson who could only head over. A Craggs corner from the left then saw strong handball appeals from Billingham, waved away by the Referee.

The University side then came forward and Finn Hebron shot from a central position, but well wide of Jaan Yaqub's goal.

Billingham opened the scoring in the 10th minute as a Micheal Joseph ball out of defence to Foster Garton saw him release BEN HENDERSON in on goal and the striker made no mistake as he shot across the keeper from the right into the bottom left corner.

Newcastle University levelled the game up soon after when in the 12th minute a ball across goal from the right was met by a RYAN REDFORD diving header which although stopped by Yaqub was deemed over the goal-line.

The home side saw sight of goal again with a shot from the edge of the box which Yaqub was behind to save. They were soon in front though as they added a second goal in the 20th minute when a short right wing corner was worked into the box and following a bit of a scramble CASPER NICHOLSON shot home from close range into the roof of the net.

Synthonia advanced with Joseph playing a long ball to Henderson on the right who in a similar position to his goal shot across the keeper, but this time wide of the far post. Joseph again played out of defence to Henderson who pulled the ball back for John Howard who saw his shot past the keeper but the ball hit the right hand post and went wide.

A Craggs corner on the right was cleared as far as Joseph who saw keeper Dekanski down to save as Synners continued to create chances. An equaliser came in added-on time as another Craggs corner from the right saw skipper JOSH ROWBOTHAM stab the ball in despite Dekanski getting a hand on the ball.

Half-time: Newcastle University 2, Synners 2

Billingham added a third and what proved to be the winner in the 49th minute as the hosts failed to clear the ball and MAX CRAGGS capitalised as he arrowed a shot from the right into the far side of the net.

Synners continued to pose a threat as Henderson played wide left to substitute and debutant Liam Graham who crossed back to Henderson; his header though caught by Dekanski. Henderson in from the left then shot on goal, but wide of the near post.

A long range Graham shot was blocked by the keeper as Billingham continued to look for a two-goal cushion. University then advanced and a Noah Neill shot from the right saw Yaqub behind the effort to stop.

That proved to be the last real chance of the game and Synthonia saw the match out to take home the points.
