Synners exited this year's FA Vase competition with two early second half goals seeing the home side through.

Billingham had an early chance to open the scoring in the 1st minute when Ben Jackson shot from the edge of the box, but just over. Aycliffe replied with a shot on goal which keeper James Dawson saved comfortably.

Synthonia were forced into two substitutions either side of the half hour mark when both Kurtis Howes and Danny Chapman went off with injuries.

The game was even until the last few minutes of the half when the home side created some good openings. A Liam Jarvie shot from the right went wide of the target. Then in the 42nd minute Ethan Wood went through on goal and was denied by a saving tackle from Jack Bailey.

On the stroke of half-time Jarvie went through on goal, only to drag his shot wide and moments later his shot saw Dawson brilliantly save onto the post.

Half-time: Newton Aycliffe 0, Synners 0

Newton Aycliffe opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 47th minute when, after Arran Wearmouth fell down in the box, JAKE PETITEJEAN converted the spot kick.

They doubled the lead just a minute later when a free-kick found the head of AARON BROWN who saw his header hit the bar, but he saw home the rebound.

Either side of the hour mark Billingham created openings with Jackson finding Foster Garton to the right of goal; his shot going into the side netting. Then a Ben Bielby run with the ball saw him send in a good strike from distance, but narrowly over the bar. Aycliffe also came close as Jarvie again managed to find space as he was slipped in on goal; his shot though going wide.

Synners were reduced to ten men in added-on time when keeper Dawson was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the penalty area, Referee Mr Campbell issuing a straight red card.
