Promotion chasing Synners faced top of the league on Saturday when West Allotment came to visit. It was Synners who looked the better side throughout the game, and created a few good chances at early on. Alex Bruton carved out some good opportunities, with Chris Dickinson on the end of a cross which was headed over from a few yards out.
Despite the strong start, it was the away side who took the lead on the 38 th minute after SHANE JONES curled an effort into the top right corner from the edge of the box. This goal had a positive affect on Synners, who seemed to end the half more clinically. Synners 0,1 West Allotment.
Alex Bruton created another opportunity form himself and was fouled in the penalty area just moments after the opening goal. CHRIS DICKINSON stepped up to take the penalty and hit it to the keepers right, with Hodgson diving in the opposite direction. Synners 1,1 West Allotment.
Synners seemed to turn the game on its head in a matter of minutes when an Alex Bruton pass found MATTY WILSON who beat the offside trap. Wilson took a touch before passing the ball over the oncoming Hodgson. It was a great finish from Wilson and Synners went in 2-1 up at the break. Synners 2,1 West Allotment.
Half-time: Synners 2 West Allotment Celtic 1
The beginning of the second period contrasted that of the first. SHANE BLAND netted his 2 nd of the game after some good link up play in the Synners box. Bland hit his effort down the middle of the goal from around the penalty mark, with being fast enough to catch Orton off-guard. Synners 2,2 West Allotment.
Synthonia continued to create more chances following the equaliser having dominated the game throughout. Matty Wilson who had an impressive game was forced off due to injury. Danny Earl had half a chance when he saw opportunity to try his luck from just outside the box. Hodgson was able to reach the shot and keep hold of the ball.
The home side came close again when Danny Boyle chested the ball down for Dickinson to try a first time effort. The keeper was well beaten but the ball fizzed just wide of the right post with Synners still searching for that 3rd goal.
It was heartbreak for Synners when West Allotment stole all 3 points with a winner inside the 89th minute. A low ball crossed in from the left found SHANE DONAGHEY who passed the ball home with ease inside the 6 yard box. The Synners defence seemed to stand still as a moment of complacency proved to be costly. Synthonia dominated the game throughout but left the game empty handed.
