Synners were hoping for a happy new year as they kicked off 2020 with a game away at Easington Colliery. It only took 3 minutes for Synners to take the lead after a Liam Pritchard cross was flicked on by Dickinson, to finally be headed in by DANNY EARL. Lawrence almost prevented the ball from crossing the line, but the shot flew in off the far post. Easington 0, 1 Synners.
Synners came close to extending their lead on a couple of occasions. Liam Pritchard orchestrated another attack when he danced past 2 defenders and hit an effort from just inside the 6 yard box, but the keeper saved at his near post. Danny Earl was then played through on goal by Matty Lovatt but Lawrence came to the rescue for the home side once more when he pushed Earl’s effort onto the crossbar.
Synners controlled the half and grabbed a 2nd through CHRIS DICKINSON in the 28th minute. The striker made up for a missed opportunity moments earlier when Danny Earl squared his pass which gave Dickinson a great opportunity to extend the lead. 0, 2 Synners.
Synners 3rd goal of the half was bitter sweet, as Liam Pritchard suffered a broken collar-bone which may rule him out for some time. Pritchard played Dickinson down the right side before being taken out by the Easington defender. Dickinson played a perfect pall across the box and DANNY EARL was waiting to slot home for his 2nd of the afternoon. Easington 0, 3.
Half-time Easington Colliery 0, 3 Billingham Synthonia
Synners began the final half on the front foot and Alex Bruton was through on goal from 40 yards out to make it 4. Bruton carried the ball into the area and hit a low cross straight at the keeper. Lawrence opted to save the effort with his feet and a good chance was missed by the away side.
The attacker did get his goal in the 67th minute after he played a 1,2 to take it past the last defender. BRUTON had just the goalkeeper to beat and tucked a neat shot into the bottom right corner leaving Lawrence with no chance. Easington 0, 4 Synners.
CHRIS DICkINSON wrapped the game up in the 83rd minute after some good link up play from Bruton and Earl inside the Easington box. Danny Earl’s final touch was flicking the ball to Dickinson who smashed the ball home from close range. Synners took a 5 goal lead against the team sitting a place above them in the league table. Easington 0, 5 Synners.
The home side did snatch a consolation goal thanks to Alex Bruton who fouled the Easington attacker inside the box. SIMON TODD hit his penalty down the centre of the goal with Orton diving to his right. Easington 1, 5 Synners.
