Synners were looking to get off to a quick start in February, making it 2 wins from 2 just 6 days into the month. There was also a debut for John Howard after he signed from Guisborough Town following the departure of Chris Dickinson.
Bruton had the first decent chance of the game when he found space 20 yards out from goal. His effort flashed wide of the right post but had Mordy concerned for a second. Matty Wilson then made an opening for himself on the right side of the box before crossing a ball which was struck against the crossbar.
After dominating the game Synners took the lead in the 15th minute after Danny Earl unselfishly played a squared pass to ALEX BRUTON who took a touch before turning and smashing the ball home from just inside the box. Bruton is in fine form after securing the win with his late goal against Willington on Saturday. Synners 1,0 Birtley Town.
Synners doubled their lead on the 18th minute when DANNY BOYLE smashed a first time effort from just inside the area leaving Mordy with no chance of making a save. There was a scramble in the box when the ball was played in, before it was cleared on as far as Boyle, another scorer from Saturdays 2-0 win. Synners 2, 0 Birtley Town.
Half-time: Synners 2, Birtley Town 0
Synners remained on the front foot at the start of the second half and almost grabbed an early goal when Danny Boyle played a pass back to Alex Bruton who struck his effort from around 15 yards which was saved by the goalkeeper.
Another great chance came after John Howard won the ball in the centre of the pitch and played Danny Earl through on goal. Earl was able to switch the ball onto his right foot but placed his shot just wide of the right post. Despite being 2 goals up, Synners were still squandering some good opportunities in the game.
Finally DANNY EARL was able to wrap up the win with a decisive 3rd in the 87th minute. Sakouvogui worked his way into the Birtley box before pulling the ball back to Earl who timed his run perfectly to slot home a straight forward chance. Synners 3, 0 Birtley.
Synners would have had a 4th in the dying moments if Sakouvogui hadn't of been offside. Danny Earl picked the striker out with a great low ball into the box, and Koi slotted the effort home underneath the keeper. The assistants flag denied him what would have been a first Synners goal.
