Synners left Birtley empty handed after losing out to a 66th penalty for the home side.

It was a quiet first period in far as goal chances were concerned with a Connor Smith shot wide for Synthonia and an Oliver Leedham shot for Birtley also wide, the only real efforts of note.

Billingham started well after the break as Ben Pollock released Matthew Wilson on the right, but he was denied by a good block from Birtley keeper Jordon Bolton. Shortly after and a long range shot from Pollock went narrowly wide.

On the hour mark and Synthonia threatened as Reece Kelly picked out Smith who shot straight at Bolton. It was Birtley who claimed the three points though as they were awarded a penalty kick after an innocuous challenge in the box which skipper TONY SMITH converted in the 66th minute.
