Jamie Pollock - Academy Manager

Jamie Pollock is an ex-professional footballer who played for England under 21’s, Middlesbrough, Osasuna, Bolton Wanderers, Manchester City (captain), Crystal Palace (captain) and Birmingham City.

After retiring from professional football he spent two years managing Spennymoor Town, gaining two promotions in that time. He left the role to take up a coaching role for Middlesbrough Football Club / local grass roots teams, and also set up a junior football academy in Middlesbrough.

Jamie became the Chairman/Manager of Billingham Synthonia FC and immediately looked to developing young players, including giving them first team opportunities. In his first season they finished a respectable 10th having played some very good football in spells.

Billingham Synthonia FC first team manager is Dave Dickson, who is very supportive of the academy, and manages a young senior team in the Ebac Northern League Division 2.  Dave has shown his commitment to the academy by inviting them to some 1st team training sessions, and talking to some of the new academy players at application sessions.

Jamie has a lot of experience of professional football academies, having watched his two sons play at Middlesbrough, Leeds Utd, Newcastle United and Grimsby Town. During this time he has been able to study and learn from how different academies operate.

He believes there is an opportunity to develop footballers between the ages of 16 -21 and Billingham Synthonia FC have an exciting model in Billingham Synthonia Football Academy that will help players experience adult football at a very young age. He sees his role of Director of Football / Academy Manager as important to the success of the club, and the development of young players.

When asked about why he set up a football academy Jamie said "I strongly believe that young players should be given a chance and this is why I have developed a football academy with Synners."
