Win a Grand with The Synners


Synners won 2-1 this evening in a pre-season friendly game away at Horden CW. Ross Brogan gave Billingham the lead when he fired home from close range from Dan Newby's driven cross from the left (12 mins). The hosts levelled the game up when after a shot struck the cross-bar, Martin Fowler fired home with a good strike from inside the penalty area (47 mins). The last goal of the game was an unfortunate own goal when Horden defender Johnny Payne could only head beyond his own goalkeeper and despite racing back under pressure from Carl Thomas, couldn't stop the ball from going into the net (51 mins).


Billingham continued with pre-season games with a 3-0 defeat against Spennymoor Town this evening at the motif8 Stadium. The visitors opened the scoring early on when Mikey Roberts fired home from close range after a ball was pulled back from the left bye-line (6 mins). Paul Johnson doubled the lead after the break with a good strike from the left (56 mins) and then Lee McAndrew finished off the scoring with a close range header (58 mins).


Synthonia continued their pre-season preparation games with a 2-0 defeat against Gateshead this afternoon at the motif8 Stadium. The conference side opened the scoring through Lewis Guy, who saw the ball home from close range after Craig Baxter squared across goal from Phil Turnbull's ball forward (66 mins). The visitor's doubled their lead from the penalty spot after a hand-ball from Matthew Osmond which assistant manager Darren Caskey converted from twelve yards (84 mins). Match Photos

Synthonia continued their pre-season preparation games with a 3-3 draw away against Stockton Town. Joe Carter opened the scoring for Synners, converting Nathan Porritt's cross from the right with a shot at the back post (9 mins). Michael Sweet extended the lead when after good work from Carter, Theo Furness and Foster Garton, he shot home from close range (43 mins). Stockton notched twice after the break to tie the game up with goals from Tony Johnson (52 mins) and Matthew Garbutt (73 mins). Billingham regained the lead with Sweet scoring again from a Carter assist (81 mins), but again Stockton levelled through Chris Stockton (84 mins). Match Photos


Billingham continued their pre-season preparation games with a 2-1 win away against Seaton Carew. Nathan Porritt opened the scoring when Theo Furness released him in on goal and he finished well with his shot (25 mins). Seaton Carew levelled the game up when a good move forward resulted in David Wilson finishing from inside the box (31 mins). Porritt scored the winner when he was initially fouled; took the free-kick himself which saw a hand-ball offence in the Seaton Wall, and took the resulting penalty which he converted (86 mins). Synners continued their pre-season preparation games with a 5-0 win over South Shields this afternoon. Nathan Porritt opened the scoring after Dan Dillon released Michael Sweet on the right who crossed for Porritt to net (20 mins). Defender David Abel added a second, reacting quickest after Shields' keeper parried Kris Hughes' shot (34 mins). After the break and Porritt found the net again when Sweet set him up to find the corner of the net from a tight angle (49 mins). Hughes and Theo Furness assisted the fourth goal which Dillon executed perfectly (61 mins), before Furness capped off the scoring when Matthew Osmond played to Porritt in the box who muscled out a defneder and played back to Hughes who helped the ball to Furness to fire home from inside the box (63 mins).


The FA Cup & FA Carlsberg Vase draws made today saw Billingham drawn at home to Durham City (FA Cup Extra-Preliminary Round 16/8/14), and at home to Celtic Nation (FA Carlsberg Vase 2nd Qualifying Round 4/10/14).


Synners opened their pre-season games with a 4-1 win over 2nd division Darlington RA this evening. A first half brace from Jack Bradbury (15 & 28 mins) gave Billingham a two-goal half-time lead which was added to shortly after the re-start with a Matthew Bell goal (48 mins). The RA pulled a goal back through Freddy Huscroft (72 mins), with Billingham completing the scoring with an Aidan Cattermole strike home (84 mins). Match Photos
