Synners had the first chance of the game as Christian Hanson rose to head an effort that the Consett 'keeper saved after 2 minutes.
Consett had an effort after 10 minutes that was saved by Billingham 'keeper Gary Riches. Then a minute later Brian Close did well to block a Consett shot on target.
After 13 minutes Synners got a free kick which Lee Flanagan met and headed wide with the Consett goal gaping.
Colin Iley found his name in the referees notebook on 25 minutes and received a yellow card.
Michael Cater had a chance to put Synners ahead after 31 minutes, the shot going wide.
On 41 minutes Colin Iley made a good run down the left and squared for Lee Flanagan who never got a good connection and sent his shot wide.
Billingham being the stronger of the two teams in the first period should have been ahead at the interval but missed chances that would have given them the lead.
Half-time: Synners 0, Consett 0
The second half began with Consett making in-roads into the Synthonia defence. On 60 minutes Consett had a chance but never troubled Riches.
A minute later on 61 minutes they found themselves with a three against two situation but too many passes saw Brian Close clear with a glancing header.
After 71 minutes Colin Iley went into a 50-50 and appealed for a free-kick. The referee however saw different and gave Consett a free-kick for Iley holding back. Mr Beswick then continued to give Iley his second yellow followed by a red for a sending off.
Consett had another great opportunity after 81 minutes when they, again, had a three against two advantage coming forward. Again Brian Close was on hand with an excellent block to deny the visitors.
Synners could have taken all three points when on 87 minutes Jason Honeyman left two Consett players behind with good work and followed it up with a decent cross which was met with a header, only for the Consett 'Keeper to easily save.
